A custom typeface and graphic design language, based on natural forms and inspired by the Māori concept of Pikorua. The typeface is intended to be used across a variety of digital and print contexts, with a full character set, ligatures, and a style guide for consistent application.
The full character set, ligatures, and style guide were designed to work together as one system, so the typeface reads consistently whether it's set small in a paragraph or blown up as a headline.
Alongside the typeface itself, this project included research and creation of a type foundry concept in Figma — a home for the typeface's character set, specimens, and usage guidance.
